NABLOPOMO

No I'm not speaking another language.

If you are a blogger then most likely you are familiar with this term. It's a monthly blog feature run by BlogHer that gives bloggers the chance to expand their readership and build their blogs by posting about a singular topic everyday in a particular month.

I decided to participate and the theme for August is HOT. So for a while at least, my posts will be related to heat in some way. I'm excited to see how I can creatively do this everyday. Prompts were provided but we were given freedom to chose our own. The only "rule" is that you post everyday. This is going to be a challenge but I welcome it and I'm excited to participate.

Come back tomorrow for my first post :)

Another Birthday!

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY TO OUR GREEDY LITTLE CHIPMUNK!!!!

I can't believe that he's already a year old. This year went by extremely fast. From infant to toddler.

Oh boy here we go....

This is a very busy week in our household. In addition to two birthdays, one party and a Chuck-e-Cheese youth group outing; my niece is coming for our annual girl's vacation. We are running on all cylinders and I be you can guess there is a pile of dishes in my sink. Not a huge pile maybe 5 items total. I know I need to go ahead and tackle them before it gets worse. But I always tend to feel like I can get to it later and do something I consider to be more important. And the next thing you know, it's a day later and the dishes are up to the rim.

Today I shall not fall into that trap! Today I shall go ahead and wash those few dishes...

After I sing Happy Birthday to my little one. For the third time today.....

Procrastination..... It's an epidemic. No judging lol

Taking It Up A Notch

Happy Monday!

I hope your weekend was as good as mine. We spent a lot of time together as a family  this weekend. The highlight was Saturday's Family Movie Night. We watched 5 different movies starting with 3 for kids and then after we sent the little ones to bed we watched two "grown up" movies.

I'm excited to share with you that in an effort to expand my readership and development; I am in the process of making some pretty fun and drastic changes to my site. With the first thing being a name change. As I'm sure you noticed by now, I have changed the name from The Queen....Outnumbered to Our Life. Our Mess. I feel this name more adequately portrays what this blog is about.

I'm working with a designer to come up with a new design and I'm also reworking my brand identity.

I hope that it is liked and will help my "beautiful baby blog" grow.

Can't wait to share it with you!

Stay Tuned......

My First Freebie

Hello all!

I'm finally sharing the freebie I promised a few days ago. It took me a minute because I had to research and choose the best option for sharing my documents with you all. It was a chore. What with my 5 yr old and 11 soon to be 12 month old and all of our daily activities.

Nonetheless here it is....

Blank Kindergarten Handwriting Practice

I hope you find it useful.

Summer Learning

Happy Monday Everyone!

It's been a while since I posted about my "homeschooling" efforts to get my son ready for kindergarten. But we are still going strong and in just a few short months, he will be officially an....

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENT!!!

Cue confetti, party streamers, and balloons....

We are all very excited for this major milestone. Sometimes I think about it and become giddy inside and other times I want to cry.

While I haven't been able to achieve everything I set out to do, I'm confident that he will be more than prepared for the upcoming challenge of kindergarten.

We've been focusing on handwriting practice a lot lately and I decided to create my own printable because I was tired of making my own handwriting paper by hand when I want it to be blank.

Nothing fancy but it fits the bill for what I wanted. I use them for name and sight word writing practice. So instead of having to create the whole ditto myself I just have to fill in the traceable words I want to practice.

I'm in the process of creating a summer packet with activities for all subjects and I decided to share it with you as a freebie. So be sure to come back Thursday to download it.

What are you and your little ones doing to get ready for the upcoming school year?

Quick and Simple Dinner

Has this ever happened to you?

It's dinner time and you are stumped about what to cook for your family.

Well it happened to me.....

I'm not really the meal pre-planning type. I usually decide in the mornings what we will have for dinner. But yesterday I was severely off schedule and didn't have a chance to get to everything on my to do list.

I walked into the kitchen to prepare dinner. Not sure what I was gonna make; I knew I wanted yellow rice. So I started making the yellow rice and took out some bell peppers. From that a meal was born.

Yellow Sausage Rice with Fresh Stir-Fry Peppers

Ingredients:
Yellow rice (packaged or from scratch)
1 pkg of ground sausage or beef (I used maple flavored Jimmy Dean ground sausage)
3 Bell pepper halves chopped fajita style (use different colors)
1/2 Onion chopped
1 tsp garlic
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp ground cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions:
Start by preparing the yellow rice by following the instructions on the package. Next combine chopped bell peppers, garlic, salt, pepper, and onions with olive oil in a skillet or wok and stir-fry to desired consistency. Set aside and cook ground sausage or beef until done.
Drain grease.
Combine all ingredients and add cayenne pepper, if desired.

Enjoy

Prayers for the Families of Arizona Firefighters

My prayers and deepest condolences go to the families of the Arizona "Hot Shot" firefighters who lost their lives in the recent wildfires.

Here's a link to an article about these great firefighters and who they were in their personal lives.

Words cannot express how sorry I am for these families. Being a military wife, I have a clear understanding of the fear these families live with everyday. And I pray GOD gives them peace.
